Post Videos of Elvas racing
I have posted a number of videos shot off the rollbar of my Courier on YouTube. They may be seen by putting in the YouTube search box: MichaelOritt82. Most of them are pretty unspectacular as it does not make for exciting viewing when one is not closely engaged or dicing with another car. There is one fairly good one entitled "Wild Hare Enduro" where I am chasing a FWE-powered Elva Mk III sportsracer at VIR. It was interesting how much of a difference his being RHD and my being LHD seemed to make in the various corners. Also similar results on the one involving the yellow FWE-powered Elite.

For a good laugh go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6PIQY1vlqk and keep your eye on the lower left corner of the viewer. I chose to post this under a different YouTube name to avoid a lot of wry comments but you guys are friends and I do not mind embarrassing myself in front of you. (I usually do it without knowing anyway).

Enjoy!

Here's another Elva racing video that unfortunately has a bad ending.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJqox7URiAs

A friend of mine had moved up to a faster (non-Elva) car and had placed his Courier up for sale. Thinking he might find a customer he brought it along to PVGP last year to display. As it turns out the new car broke so he decided to take out the Courier, which he had not driven in about a year. He was doing quite well but lost concentration on turn one and totalled the car--luckily he walked away only slightly shaken up.

OUCH!!
Amazing that he wasn't hurt. How did the Courier fare? From the rollbar cam it looks like the car folded in half.

The left front pretty much disintegrated and the frame was twisted up some. It could probably be salvaged but might never drive straight again.

Post Re: Videos of Elvas racing (Loose Wheel)
Was that a Morris Minor you were chasing in the first video? Ok you had a little problem with the steering, but being a Morris pickup driver and having owned a number of Minors I can't imagine what could be done to a Minor to make it as fast as a Courier. I used to "stealth" race old ladies in Chevy II's with my Minor on the interstate. By careful race stratagy I was able to sometimes pass them as long as they weren't aware that I was racing them. Morris "invented" anti-lock brakes. No matter what you did there wasn't enough enough brake to lock the wheels on anything but ice. Nice save by the way.
