IMRRC to Celebrate Elva – Elva cars invited to participate

The International Motor Racing Research Centre at Watkins Glen is to honour ELVA, the book and the car, during the weekend April 21/22. Elva owners and cars are invited and encouraged to attend this very special event. A detailed schedule with timings will be announced soon.
Award winning author Janos Wimpffen will be the keynote speaker at the International Motor Racing Research Centre at Watkins Glen on April 21-22 for a program celebrating the Elva race car. Wimpffen will be available to sign copies of his new book ELVA: The Car ,The People,The History (David Bull Publishing), winner of the Motor Press Guild’s Dean Batchelor award for the best book of 2011. http://www.motorpressguild.org/mc/page. ... eId=119233
The event is part of the Centre’s annual Open House weekend. http://www.racingarchives.org
We anticipate that many Elva owners and enthusiasts will take part and the Centre will display Elva cars on its premises on Saturday April 21 as part of the event program. On Sunday, April 22, the event moves up on the hill to Watkins Glen International (WGI) race circuit where the cars will be on display at the start/finish line and victory circle area. The weekend is WGI’s traditional Opening Weekend where thousands of area enthusiasts come to the Glen to drive their cars on the 3.4 mile circuit. Laps are at controlled speed behind a pace car and proceeds go to a local charity.
Participants registered for the Elva display will have the track to themselves during a dedicated period midday to drive exhibition laps at controlled speeds. There is no charge for Elva participants for their laps during this defined period.

I had previously sent the early announcement of this exciting seminar to Andy Rich in the States for circulation to some owners but do please contact Max Neal (as above) for updates as they happen. There are to be a number of presentations at the Research Centre and possibly at the track too. These details are currently being co-ordinated so there will be more information to follow once confirmed. At this stage do PLEASE make a note of this event in your diary. Obviously many will need to consider a long journey but the indications are that this will be a ‘MUST DO’ event which will recognise ELVA as a leading and flourishing marque thanks to all the input by the talented team of people who designed and built the cars, together with all the owners and enthusiasts who have passionately kept the cars in action over the past fifty or more years.
