Surely a PERFECT fit Frank .. just be sure you keep enough space for the wine and nibbles.
Had the guys pictured in the ELVA Engineering (Bexhill) photo had the opportunity to share a glass or two with you, they would have been absolutely amazed at the dedicated following for the cars that they so enthusiastically produced under the watchful eye of 'Father' Frank Nichols. Truly a team effort by extremely talented but totally modest craftsmen who genuinely loved their work. Thanks for giving them recognition so richly deserved.

Bob & Sherry Engberg arrive with their very much admired Mk.II #100/27 set up camp at Monterey thanks to their extremely faithful Westfalia ..
" At Monterey. Celebrating 60 years of racing at Laguna Seca Raceway in our 60 year old Elva. Another 14 Elvas are entered in this year's event. "
Bob has decided to retire from vintage racing after many years as a well known and very popular competitor, so enquire if you are looking for a truly special early ELVA sports racer.

Turns out Elva drivers become quite nice when you offer them a gift and mention Roger, All quite delightful, must be the cars that make them happy, that make them GO...?

A final report on the spectacular Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Meeting which had a very respectable contingent of enthusiastic Elva entries and a stupendous race win together with other awards throughout the event.
I will add images of the printed race results in numerical group order so you can see all ELVA competitors together with those they battled with, often against younger more powerful cars.
Commiserations to Lon Walters who had a 'coming together' during qualifications in the Group 3B which was serious enough to prevent him taking any further part .. Lon is okay but his Courier will need some gentle TLC. Nothing too serious so will soon be as good as new.
So let's start with Group 2B and the fantastic race win by Chris Drake in his '300' Series FJ; a little further down the results is Jim Yule in 12th position in his front-engined '100' Series car.
Unlucky Lon was the only entrant in Group 3B but as above DNS.
Group 6B featured a number of ELVA sports racers with the results table showing Bob Engberg finishing 14th, highest of the ELVA entries in his pretty Mk.II but hot on his heels was Frank Mons III (15th) in the mid-engined Mk.VI, with two more of the Mk.VI models of Charlie Smith and Tom Thinesen in 23rd and 24th. Tail-ender was Kevin Adair in his 1955 Climax engined Mk.1, an interesting example having been originally fitted with a Maserati 1.5L engine.
The big-bore cars raced in Group 7A and featured some very powerful sports cars with a win by the youngest entry being a 1973 Gulf Mirage! So a 7th position from Harindra De Silva in his 1965 ELVA-BMW Mk.VIII was superb; Roger Cassin in his Mk.VIIS was next at 16th position, followed by David Hagan in a Mk.VII in 19th, Mark Francis in a Mk.VIIS at 23rd, Willis Murphey Jr. in another Mk.VIIS at 29th, out of the 34 starters.

Bob and Sherry Engberg went home with yet another much deserved trophy, awarded to a car in each group for the cars 'presentation and performance', so the "Rolex Award For Excellence" will be added to the already crowded display cabinet. Image shows Jill Campbell, the CEO of the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway wearing the pretty red 1950's dress, Bob & Sherry and an unknown lady (please let me have a name).

Frank Mons III has decorated his new towing vehicle with some ELVA images pictured behind his superb Mk.VI s/r.
