Bexhill Museum & Polgrove Park
The van this time took me east to Polgrove Park in Bexhill on Bank Holiday Monday and another show which again attracted many enthusiasts to the point that all the public entrance tickets and event progammes sold out ... and still they piled in!
This was good news as it was the first public viewing for the Museum project "We're Bringing Elva Home" and the Elva-Climax Mk.III sports racer, chassis # 100/56. There was much interest and discussion, helped along by several ex. Elva people and Courier owners who kindly came along to offer support ... Chris & Sally Dady, Neville Young, Pete Barnard (for Jonathan Playfoot), and Brian Stern.
The Bexhill Motor Club kindly donated funds from this event to the museum restoration 'pot' and I have given money from sales towards the cost of renting a suitable workshop near Bexhill.
However we DO need YOUR help so PLEASE download the museum brochure here and give a donation large or small to help this most important project. The museum itself is now closed to allow for the complete refurbishment to start so the clock is ticking as the car MUST be reading for the re-opening in January 2009.
The Goodwood Revival 2007
Another outing for the van near Chichester and the Goodwood motor circuit ... how could this event get better but the oft' repeated comment was "the best yet!" Again massive Elva interest particularly when we parked the pretty Mk.II sports racer alongside. This car with chassis # 100/41 had travelled over from South Africa with owner/driver Josh Dovy together with his support team from the EMGEE Workshop who are based in Pinegowrie ... other race entrants included several McLaren-Elva Chevy powered cars, rear-engined F/J's and the Mk.IV sports racer of Simon Peach.
Great to see even more people dressing 'up' (sometimes down) in the period and so many happy smiling faces ... and the racing ... just amazing !! If you couldn't get there for heavens sake buy the DVD when it comes out!!! And book your tickets for 2008.
