1959 Elva Courier - chassis #100/143/L

The early Couriers used a tubular ladder frame made of 2 1/2" main sections and 1 1/2" cross sections. The 50/50 weight distribution came by placing the engine far back on the chassis.

Acquired from Stuart Newman in December 1999 as the current owner's first entry into vintage racing. The car has been raced 4-6 times/year from 2000-2006. Previous ownership includes Dave Fenton and Harvey Siegel.

In preparation for the 2004 season, the head was reworked, valve job completed, block deck shaved to increase compression to 11.5:1 and a new 3.55 differential sourced and installed to improve performance at Watkins Glen and VIR. The Courier has recently been freshened by Alderman Machine of Wilmington, DE and is fully race ready.
