Famous Radio London Elva-BMW Mark 7S (now sold)
The famous Radio London Elva-BMW Mark 7S is newly for sale because its owner is retiring from racing. This car has a stellar history in period, when during in the 1965-67 period it was owned by Ken Sheppard and driven with great success - and some Elva works support - by Keith St John. The car's history in this period is described in the new and definive book on the marque, "Elva: The Cars, The People, The History", by Janos Wimpffen, and is featured in a double-page photo spread.
The present owner bought the car from the Sheppard team and took it with him to Australia where he raced at famous 70s circuits such as Warwick Farm and Catalina Park, Katoomba. He then sold it, but bought it back in 1998 and undertook a comprehensive restoration based on a new chassis and safety-critical parts from Roger Dunbar.
It has since been raced in Australia with substantial success in historics, breaking many class lap records.
It is presented in immaculate and very original condition, down to the pair of upholstered seats. The engine is in full race tune, with wonderful flexible power and torque.
This Elva was converted to a central radiator configuration by Ken Sheppard in period because of overheating problems. It retains that today, but all parts come with the car to take it back to twin radiators if desired.
The period history in the UK when driven by Keith St John is well documented, as is its history racing in historic events in Australia. Full details can be supplied on request.
