Elva Cars Historic Docs, Road Tests, etc.
Thought we might start sharing Elva Cars Ltd. period documents, magazine road tests. factory photos, anything of the period that was factory related (and not presently copyrighted!). Not sure where this will go, but I'll start with a photocopied Invoice from Elva Engineering Company, transferring ownership of a new MKIII to Burdette Martin, owner of Vogue Motor Imports of Chicago.
The car is chassis 100/46 which Stan Mason documents was being raced in 1960 by A.J. Stahl. The date of the invoice is October, 1957, so this was perhaps the first MK III produced or at least imported to the USA. This copy was in the paperwork I got from Bob Grunau, who restored my MK II.

Here is the Continental Motors 1959 Title for the MK III chassis 100/54 bought by Tom Greatorex. In the 1990's Henry Schmidt got the car in a court action. The car was recently sold on eBay and is in the UK where it will hopefully be restored. Greatorex at the Watkins Glen "Formula Libre" race in 1959. (Photo appears on the Barcboys website http://www.barcboys.com/). Tom later became a mechanic for Carroll Shelby and presumably brought the Elva to California when he moved here to work. And here is the 50 year old Title. The date 1959 suggests that there might have been a previous owner or perhaps the car was part of the Continental bankruptcy. (At $3000 it was about 3/5th of the original price for these cars.)
