Recognise this Courier at Sebring or are you far too young!
This interesting image sent by Drew Cullen which shows a Courier with an early roll hoop or is it a roll box? From Drew .. " Attached is a photo a friend sent me that a former professor of his took at Sebring in1961. He was pointing out to me that someone else had a strange roll bar on a Courier (there are two in the picture but the one he is referring to will be obvious to you). " A brief look in the archive does not reveal the owner/driver .. probably Gary will know??

Well its a small world!
I believe this pic is from the Vineland Speedway, NJ.
Judging from the diverse cars on the starting grid I would say its the four-hour enduro. The rain and car numbers tells me it is August 1959. The overall winner, distance covered, was the red 1500 OSCA #47 of Otto Linton and Lew Flink. The red 750 OSCA #711 won index, P-2 OA. Drivers Holbert and Ginther.
Ted Buckley and Atkinson shared the drive in Courier #301. I have thought the #301 to be my car by the "unique" rollbar, but cannot make the connection for sure. Tony Natale ran the OD green Courier #15.
Drew, you were standing at this spot, in front of the grandstand. How could you not recognize the forest for the trees? Things have changed a wee bit since 1959. Great find! Thanks for posting!

Yes, my mistake. The photo and link was sent to me by a MG Midget racing friend, and you know those guys can't be trusted. I concluded from the photo album it was linked to, titled Sebring 1961, that the photo was from Sebring in 1961. My friend later explained that the former professor of his that posted these photos said some of the photos were from a trip to Vineland. And from the great tour of Vineland given me by Gary, I can now see that this photo, and many of the others in that album, are from Vineland. The link is: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1127 ... iMA&cfem=1Thanks again Gary!

Not sure what happened to this car .. anyone know?? Was advertised back in 2013. Has the rather square unbraced roll 'hoop' ...

Believe it went to Maine and is being prepped as a racer. Don't have access to the registry handy at the moment. Gary would know the details. BB
It's 100/76/L in Dresden Maine per Gary C.
