 Elva MK5 frame color
Good Evening,
is there any chance to know what color Elva used for painting their frames? On the MKV it looks green.
thanks in advance.
Cheers Valerio

 Re: Elva MK5 frame color
Frank had a reputation of buying at 'competitive' prices, and ex WW2 battleship grey paint may well have been used on occasions, however most of the early chassis frames were certainly painted in the 'duck egg’' green ... the Mk.III s/r which was rebuilt for the Bexhill Museum had been buried under a garage full of tat, but that meant no one had spoilt the originality and we had a new small supply of that colour produced. Back in the day, the ‘green’ paint supply may have petered out and another colour more grey paint took its place .... I will probably have the paint RAL code somewhere but a good paint shop should be able to mix up a supply.

 Re: Elva MK5 frame color
When I pulled the body from my ‘59 Courier I found traces of dark green. Figured it might have been army surplus olive drab or the British equivalent.

 Re: Elva MK5 frame color
See any black chassis frames here … ??? Ummm Once cars left the ELVA workshops then owners/restorers did whatever took their fancy. … sometimes it appears after rather too many beers! If a measure of originality is required then a light/med grey or ditto green will be best choice. Good luck …
