Post subject:  Another happy ELVA customer .... Courier E1163

Good to read that Lee Baker is enjoying his ownership of his ELVA Courier Mk.4 #E1163 being the car that Butch Gilbert raced from 1988 through 1992. Butch ran at tracks all over the Western US, Sears Point, Laguna Seca, Westwood BC, Firebird in Arizona, Portland, and Steamboat Springs in Colorado. In 1990 he ran Wine Country, the Monterey Historics, the Elva reunion in Atlanta, the Monterey Historics again in 1991 and Wine Country again in 1992. The Courier moved to Wayne Basso in September '92 and Wayne then ran 19 races with it.
The original build details show E1163 as ordered in Dec. 1963; an open (roadster), beam (axle); LHD, painted silver grey; black trim; MGB power from engine # 18 GUH 23808; supplied to US importer Carl Haas; and shipped 10th June 1964.
Lee bought the car about twelve months ago.
It seems that Lee will continue to campaign the car and will add to the impressive race history for the foreseeable future.
His comment ... " it runs great and I love it ". Perfect!
