65 YEARS ELVA | THE BIRTH OF MCLAREN

In addition to the spotlight on the 75th birthday of Jacky Ickx, InterClassics Brussels will also be looking back at the history of the British race car brand, Elva (‘Elle va’ = she goes). Even though it may not be that well-known among the general public, this brand that marked its start in 1955 played an important role in the birth of the car brand that gets every racing fan’s heart beating faster, McLaren. The last Elva to be built was also the first McLaren, the McLaren-Elva MK 1A and 1B. As a tribute to this classic, McLaren will be releasing the 800-hp McLaren-Elva Barchetta this year. In cooperation with the Minister of State, Guy Verhofstadt (Elva aficionado and collector) and McLaren Brussels, the brief yet intriguing history will be presented during the exhibition from 20 to 22 November at Brussels Expo.

The sixth edition of InterClassics Brussels, the annual oldtimer fair at Brussels Expo, has been postponed to November 2021. The 75th birthday of Jacky Ickx, still one of the greatest sports icons of all time, would be celebrated during the 2020 edition. However, due to the global outbreak of the corona virus and the continuing uncertainty about further developments, the organisation is forced to postpone the fair to 19, 20 and 21 November 2021.

The proposal to celebrate ELVA as the featured marque is to be carried forward to 2021 at this prestigious show, with a good number of ELVA cars already approved for display. Hopefully the COVID-19 disruptions will have become a memory .. watch this space with further details in due course.
Don't forget to make a note in your diary and look forward to seeing you there ... :D
