This car currently owned by Bud Byrnes is detailed at http://motostalgia.com/car-detail/?car= ... Id41654-87
Although auction date not shown on the website without some digging, it is on the 18th June at the Indianapolis Brickyard event ... so SOON if you have an interest. Do not let the high estimate put you off ...

This is one of the ex. Ron Lutz Couriers built as lightweight specials by Trojan-Elva and is to be auctioned again this time at Monterey. Take a look ... https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0817-29989 ... -roadster/
Not sure who writes auction descriptions but rarely accurate .. e.g. Frank Nichols had nothing to do with the design and development of the Mk.III Courier, other than getting Keith Marsden involved when Trojan made a complete 'horlicks'' of the launch cars! The Ron Lutz story is found at http://www.elvacourier.com/story/part2.html

Did the car sell at Monterey .. ??? Cannot find on the results pages .. perhaps it's me??

Bud has now confirmed that for logistical reasons the car was withdrawn from the auction.
Dec 16 .. Bud confirmed Courier sold.

Here it is again .. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-ELva-Cour ... wN&vxp=mtr
A rather inaccurate listing as of course this is a Mk.III Trojan built Courier and some of the history is not correct.
It would seem that the seller is not clear about the story of this car possibly because Lutz and friend/colleague O'Steen ordered three cars from Trojan and all were NOT supplied as 'purpose built race cars'.
Two were Mk.III's and the other a Mk.IV parts car which very nearly competed in the Le Mans race in 1964.
However, this car E1042 is very well presented and may be worth an offer ... ;)

Thank you Roger for clarifying the history of this car.
I thought that I had the Lutz/Osteen cars confused, the Gilred E1037 being mentioned with this car E1042.

Driver Michael Haydel (?) is the new, current owner? NOLAsportscars a broker then?

You, or the new owner, keep me abreast please.

Please find below an picture of the Elva at Montlhéry in 1963. There is some work to give it the original spécifications.

Just a reminder that there is this article relating the the Mk.IV T-Type which was much modified for the Le.Mans attempt .. researched some years ago so maybe more info has surfaced? Chassis # E1137.
A further important reminder that Peter Agg was VERY reluctant to get the Courier production involved in motorsports hence the Lutz/O'Steen team effort was pretty special and was so nearly a relative success.

Seems to have been regularly offered since I had a full head of hair!
Will sell at the right price which seems to have been rather over optimistic to date.

Let's hope it goes to a new caretaker ... maybe worth talking to the broker or the current owner believed to be Michael Haydel.
