You have to consider that these cars were built by hands-on talented engineers, machinists and fabricators, plus that ELVA Cars had well equipped workshops including a busy machine shop. The era of 'fitters' had not yet arrived and very often those relatively few items sourced from other manufacturers (brake parts etc.) were tweaked to suit each application on individual cars. No computers or buttons to push other than the on/off switch on a lathe etc. I suspect that lovely Len Sayers knocked up these mounts and brackets from simple jigs before he had his breakfast !! |

Thanks Roger. We thought we had a lead on extra Mk6 parts. But it didn't work out. If you know of anyone else out there who might have parts lying around (yeah, I know, silly thought), let us know! |

If the Lindsays were building new cars perhaps Steve has a jig or would make you new parts? off topic, sorry…. I found a John Coundley in England who raced Lister-Jaguar and Lotus 1960-64. Some association with Ian Raby who prepped Elva Mk.VI and V8 car. I remembered you were happy to find PO names and photos, but every sliver of information can be valuable. gc |
